This beautiful country cottage is located within Winfrith Newburgh, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; and provides a homely base for exploring what Dorset’s Jurassic Coast has to offer.
The village of Winfrith Newburgh is a quaint village, with a range of local amenities including a village shop which also serves as a Post Office, off-licence and provides a laundry service; and the local public house is also close-by being half a mile from the accommodation. On the doorstep of this property is the beautiful Lulworth Cove (4 miles away) which is a natural feature that dates back over 10,000 years. Also worth visiting is Durdle Door which is an iconic natural limestone arch on Dorset’s coastline. Travel a little bit further and you can explore Tyneham (10 miles away) which was taken over in World War II for D-Day preparations. The village was evacuated, and villagers said they would return, but never did. The schoolroom is a particular exhibit at this attraction which looks just as if the children have gone out to play! Weymouth is also close for day visiting at a short 11-mile drive.
Located on the village street, opposite the village shop, this property is the middle cottage in a row of three. Entering the cottage via the front porch, you step into the inviting sitting room with an open stone fireplace, exposed beams and beautiful bay window. Moving out of the sitting room and down the hall, you enter the L-shaped dining room, which is built into an extension of the property, with French doors leading to the terrace and garden. Then into an open-plan L-shaped kitchen with all the essentials: cooker, ice box fridge, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher. Downstairs, you also have a bathroom with a shower over the bath, WC and basin.
Through the low doors and up the short winding staircase you have two bedrooms which are cosily situated in the eaves of the cottage showing the detail of the beams. There is one double bedroom and also a twin bedroom.
Outside of the property, there is a small walled courtyard to the front; and to the rear, a terrace with BBQ and long lawned garden which is dotted with shrubs and trees. The garden backs onto rolling fields and this encourages a host of local wildlife to visit the garden including all types of bird and even some badgers. A rear gate at the end of the garden leads to adjacent parking for one small car in a garage. Alternative parking on the village lane is also available.
