Description

This stylish barn conversion is set away from the main road, along an ancient track flanked with fields of sheep and cows.Close to Dartmoor National Park, the market town of Okehampton is just 1.5 miles away. A wonderful base for couples and families to enjoy nature at its best, with easy access into Cornwall and the coast

This spacious cottage has cosy underfloor heating throughout. Its secluded location offers peace, quiet and privacy with expansive views of the Devon countryside. Okehampton offers a choice of supermarkets, independent shops and fresh local produce. Antique hunters will enjoy browsing the antique shops, and vegans and vegetarians may want to investigate the local vegan café which is dog friendly. In Sampford Courtenay itself is a gorgeous thatched pub with a Michelin chef booking recommended. Known as the gateway to Dartmoor, there are plenty of hiking opportunities from Okehampton, including the highest hill in the UK south of the Brecon Beacons. Bikes can be hired locally for the Granite Way, and if guests bring their own bikes, they can explore The Tarka Trail and some cross Dartmoor opportunities for more serious cyclists. For a traditional picnic lunch stop at the Cheese Factory or the Cider Farm nearby. Worth a visit is the Museum of Dartmoor Life, Okehampton Castle & Finch Foundry. The ancient town of Tavistock has a large indoor market and the A30 provides easy access into Cornwall for day trips to the coast, the Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan and Llanhydrock House.

Upon entering the cottage, you step into the hallway which has a door to the ground floor WC and leads you up a couple of steps to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The lounge area is to the left and has comfy sofas, a wood burner to snuggle up in front of and where you can watch your favourite program or film on the TV/DVD and listen to your playlists on the iPod dock. To the right  takes you into the spacious kitchen/diner which is well-equipped with a gas range oven and hob, Espresso/Capuccino maker, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine and a dining area which comfortably seats four. At the end of the day climb the stairs to the first floor where you will find the two bedrooms the first of which is a super-king-size zip-and-link (which can be made up as a twin on request) with en-suite shower room with WC. Bedroom two is a king-size with en-suite shower room with WC. Please be advised the property will not accommodate children under 10 years old. Spa treatments are available in the cottage via a third party including hot stone massage, Indian head massage and aromatherapy massage.

Outside and to the front of the property is a beautiful sunken garden with a deep pond and at the back of the property there is a private enclosed garden, decking with furniture and a charcoal BBQ, with views over fields and Dartmoor. You will also find a dog washing trough and a tap to clean those muddy paws and the owners are happy to offer pet sitting (by arrangement). There is covered parking available for up to two medium sized cars.
