Grade II listed thatched cottage offering pretty, period-style accommodation for up to seven guests, located in the historic village of Carisbrooke, within short walking distance of the village’s castle.
This property is well-known in the village of Carisbrooke thanks to its characterful picture-perfect appearance and, can often be seen depicted on postcards. In the village, visitors will find a welcoming pub, a handy village shop, and an Italian restaurant: perfect for guests who want to take a night or two off from cooking whilst away. The village is best-known for its impressive castle which not only features a Norman keep and walls, but also boasts attractive gardens, an interesting museum, and is home to a group of resident donkeys. For those wishing to make the most of the walking routes for which the island is well-known, Carisbrooke makes a great base, as it is the starting point for the Tennyson Trail, which stretches for 14 miles to Alum Bay.
A thatched porch leads up to the front door of this pretty cottage, upon entering which guests will find themselves in the welcoming lounge: an attractive room with a brick fireplace, wood burner-effect gas fire, inviting sofa seating, and a Smart TV/DVD. For those who are looking for a quiet space in which to relax, there is a second lounge which can, alternatively, be used as a separate dining room by moving the table out of the kitchen. The kitchen has been finished in a sympathetic style to the cottage and is equipped with a double oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, and dishwasher, whilst the washer/dryer is housed in a separate utility room. A shower room with shower and WC can also be found on the ground floor, whilst there is also a bathroom offering a shower-over-bath and WC can be found on the first floor alongside two of the property’s four bedrooms. Both of these are delightful double rooms, one of which features a romantic four-poster bed. A fairly steep second set of stairs leads up to the second floor, where guests will find a restful single room which has its own TV/DVD, this room gives access through to an adjoining twin room.
Heading outside of the cottage there is a spacious south-facing enclosed garden. This attractive, sunny space is laid mainly to lawn and for which garden furniture is provided. There is off-road parking for one large or two small cars on the driveway to the side of the cottage.
Please note there is a refundable £100 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.
