Clacton Pier Beach is famous for its historic pier, built in 1877, and now attracts families with its vast array of traditional seaside entertainments. The beach is a sandy stretch considered child-friendly, with local lifeguard patrols and first aid cover.
Clacton (Groyne 41) bathing water is situated next to the pier on the central seafront of Clacton-on-Sea. The beach is gently shelving and sandy, with much of it covered at high water. It is a popular beach resort backed by a promenade, which in turn is backed by the town and coast road on top of a 20-metre cliff.
The beach provides a classic British seaside holiday experience, complete with a Victorian pier, seaside amusements, cafes, and entertainment. The beach itself is a decent-sized stretch of clean golden sand, making it popular with families. A seasonal lifeguard service, easy parking, and plenty of amenities close by make Clacton a favourite during the school holidays.
The beach offers a range of activities, including paddling, swimming, and building sandcastles. Visitors can also enjoy water sports, crazy golf along the promenade, and explore the nearby Pavilion Fun Park. The iconic Clacton Pier is a hub of excitement and entertainment, featuring amusement rides, arcades, and attractions. The seafront gardens, located along the upper promenade, are also worth exploring.
Throughout the year, the town hosts various events, including a lively carnival week and the annual Clacton Air Show, a free spectacle that takes place in August. Visitors can also take a leisurely stroll along the promenade to soak in the vibrant seaside atmosphere and enjoy the views.
