That is also home to the historical impressive ruins of Drochil Castle, that was built for the Regent of Scotland and was not finished before his execution in 1581. Only five miles from the pretty conservation village of West Linton and the Royal Burgh of Peebles. By the banks of the bonnie River Tweed, renowned for its excellent salmon and trout fishing. The town also boasts excellent shopping and leisure facilities, including Eastgate Theatre & Arts Centre, Gytes Leisure Centre and golf courses. Enjoy a trip to Neidpath Castle, Kailzie and Dawyck Botanic Gardens, in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
