The tranquil countryside surroundings of this property belie the fact that it is situated just one mile from the attractive historic town of Shaftesbury. Eagle-eyed visitors will recognise the town’s sleep cobbled Gold Hill as the location used in the famously nostalgic Hovis adverts, and it is this quaint feeling that gives the town its unique atmosphere. There is a good range of shops in the town, as well as a choice of cafes and pubs, alongside an interesting history museum and the ruins of Shaftesbury Abbey. Further afield but still within easy reach, other attractions in the area include Longleat Safari Park, The Fleet Air Arm Museum, and the cathedral city of Salisbury.
Set within a thirty-acre smallholding, this romantic log cabin makes a wonderful place to relax and get away from it all. A single step leads to the front veranda, which guests cross on their way to the front door, opening onto the enclosed porch, where there is a seating area with table and chairs. Moving through to the main living space, the lounge is a lovely homely space with two sofas, a TV/DVD, and hi-fi. From the lounge, a doorway leads to the spacious kitchen/diner where guests will find a dining table seating four, as well as an oven, hob, microwave, fridge with freezer section, and washing machine. The property has one bedroom, a book-lined double room which benefits from a small sofa and armchair making it a great space to relax with a book before turning in. The en-suite bathroom, meanwhile, offers a bath, hand-held shower, and WC. It is also possible to request a fold-out single bed which can be set up in the property’s porch, which has a privacy curtain separating it from the lounge.
Outside, there is a traditional covered veranda to the front of the property with a table and chairs, which enjoys views over the enclosed lawn gardens.
Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.
