Built around 1850, the beautifully restored cottage was once home to the head gardener of the Whittern Estate, simply charming and full of character, perfect for a family stay in Herefordshire.
Set within the heart of the Herefordshire countryside with plenty to explore on foot, a haven for enthusiastic walkers with access to waymarked footpaths from your front door. Enjoying a central location and perfect for exploring the Black Mountains, Elan Valley and Shropshire Hills. With many villages and market towns to include Hay-on-Wye, famous for its book shops and festivals and Hereford, with its cathedral, Mappa Mundi and Chained Library are close. There are many National Trust properties including The Weir Gardens, Croft Castle and Berrington Hall to name a few. A variety of festivals run throughout the year such as The Three Choirs, Ludlow Food Festival and Bromyard Folk Festival.
Backing onto a lovely and well protected courtyard, it is historic and stylishly finished retaining many original features. Step inside the back door that meanders through an eclectic courtyard, entering straight into the kitchen, well-equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. There is a utility room off the kitchen with a washing machine, tumble dryer and shower room with shower and WC. Further into the cottage is a dining room offering views onto the garden with a large vintage table and chairs that seat up to ten. The lounge is the other side of the front entrance and porch area and has two comfortable sofas, armchairs and a delightful wood burner and TV/DVD. So when the day is done climb the stairs where you will find three bedrooms, one king-size with a vanity unit in the room, one double with a French style bed and one twin room. There is also a bathroom with bath and WC.
The cottage sits proudly in large open gardens of its own, next to the kitchen garden with its original eighteenth-century red brick walls. There is a table and chairs along with BBQ available. There is off-road parking for three cars. Leisure facilities include shared heated outdoor pool (available from May - September 10am - 12noon) and badminton.
Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.
