Description

Set in the village of Mey near Thurso with distant views of the Castle of Mey (a favourite of the Queen Mother) and the Pentland Firth from some of the top floor bedrooms this is a truly fantastic area of Scotland that is well worth exploring.

Hop on a boat trip to spot some wildlife from the rugged cliff-face at Dunnet and you may even be lucky enough to be joined by a pod of dolphins or bob of seals.

The NC500 route runs right past the property making it an excellent pit-stop along the way.

As you walk in to this warm and welcoming home you are greeted with a small entrance hall which leads through to the large open-plan lounge/diner.

The lounge area contains a gas fire and a bar which is popular with guests (alcohol not supplied).

The lounge leads through to a dining area which can seat up to 40 guests.

There is also a small dance floor area which is great for family celebrations.

There is an additional lounge/snug with TV which is a big hit with kids in the group where they can have their own space away from the adults in the main lounge next door.

The kitchen at the property is a commercial kitchen and contains plenty of appliances for cooking for the family an electric Range oven and hob three microwaves two fridge/freezers and two dishwashers are ideal for preparing for dinner parties.

On the ground floor you will also find four separate WC's as well as a laundry room with two washing machines and a tumble dryer.

Upstairs to the first floor you will find five bedrooms one super-king-size zip-and-link (which can be made into a twin on request) with TV one double with TV and en-suite bathroom with shower over bath and WC another double with a TV and an en-suite-shower room with WC another super-king-size zip-and-link (which can be made into a twin on request) with a TV and an en-suite shower room with WC and a super-king-size with a TV and en-suite shower room with WC.

To the rear of the property across from the courtyard you will find a separate building with a further four bedrooms: one accessible twin with a TV and en-suite wet room with shower and WC one double with TV and en-suite shower room with WC another double with TV and en-suite bathroom with shower over bath and WC and finally a king-size with TV and en-suite bathroom with shower over bath and WC.

This wing is the ideal place for grandparents or families with young children to stay if you prefer to have your own space away from the main building.

The dining area in the property has patio doors that lead out to a beautiful enclosed courtyard with outdoor seating and a BBQ.

Outside the courtyard is a large space for parking and a grassed area with small pond that leads out to five acres of woodland which guests are free to explore.

Although the property is close to the road that passes through the village it's a very tranquil spot with rolling fields that surround the property which adds to the overall charm of this Highland home.
