Nearby Sherborne is rich in history and home to an Abbey, which dates to Saxon times, two castles and renowned schools. Its pretty centre has a great range of independent shops, ideal for an afternoon spent browsing. Dorset’s county town, Dorchester, is 11 miles to the south and has two cinemas, plus a long high street lined with numerous coffee bars, shops and eateries. This part of rural Dorset has many picturesque walks and cycle routes to enjoy, taking in landmarks such as the Cerne Abbas Giant, which is carved into the chalk hillside high above the village.
