Crail Beach boasts a sandy upper beach and rock pools at the water's edge, providing ample opportunities for exploration. The beach is backed by a steep grassy park situated on the coastal footpath.
Roome Bay is situated next to the village of Crail, approximately 10 miles down the coast from St Andrews. The south-facing beach has sandy upper parts, ideal for relaxation, while the area below the high water mark features rock pools and a rocky shoreline.
The beach is home to a former paddling pool, now reclaimed by nature and serving as a refuge for wildlife, particularly water birds. A small children's play area is located behind the beach, making it an excellent choice for families. Fishing is also a popular activity on the beach. Visitors can access the beach via a slipway, and there is some roadside parking available in the village. Toilets are located near the beach.
The village of Crail is built around an old, picturesque harbour and features a range of amenities, including the Crail Harbour Gallery and Tearoom, cafes, restaurants, and pubs.
The 117-mile-long Fife Coastal Path passes next to the beach, and this part of the coastline is an internationally protected area due to its important wetland habitats and plant and animal species. A caravan park is located just north of the beach.
The beach is cleaned weekly, ensuring a tidy and well-maintained environment for visitors.
