Southport Beach is a popular seaside resort on the North West Coast of England, known for its long sandy beach and wide range of activities for families. .

Southport is a busy seaside resort located north of Ainsdale and near the mouth of the River Ribble. The beach is a wide, shallow, flat, clean, and sandy stretch, with a very large tidal range. The rear edge of the beach is flanked by a promenade and it also has a pier.

The beach has a very shallow gradient with large areas of sand exposed throughout the tidal cycle. Only at very high water is the beach completely covered by the sea up to the sea wall. The promenade and pier provide additional amenities for visitors.

Although many would say Southport's heyday was in the Victorian era, this traditional seaside resort is still one of the most popular in the UK. The town hosts an array of annual events, and the beach remains a major draw for visitors. The recently restored Pier, which dates back to 1860, is the oldest iron pier in the country and features a viewing platform, a Pier Pavilion with displays on local wildlife and history, and offers tram rides to the end of the pier.

The beach is an ideal spot for traditional Great British seaside pastimes, such as building sandcastles, flying kites, and taking a dip in the safe bathing waters. Visitors can also explore the 22-mile Sefton coastline, which leads from the Mersey into the Ribble Estuary. The surrounding area features some of the largest undeveloped dune systems in the UK, including the Marshside RSPB reserve and two walking trails: the Queen's Jubilee Trail and the Velvet Walk.

Southport beach is a designated bathing beach with lifeguard cover between Easter and September. The beach is dog-friendly, with restrictions from the Pier south towards Pleasureland (for 555m) and to the tide line. The Grade II listed pier is a popular attraction, and visitors can take a stroll down the pier or enjoy the seaside safely with their families.
