This renovated farm cottage, situated next to a Grade II-listed 18th century corn mill, offers a charming holiday for families that want to relax in the North Yorkshire countryside in splendid grounds.
This superb stone cottage, which was a cow shed in its former life, is an ideal getaway for families looking to experience country life deep in the heart of Wensleydale. Set on the edge of a hamlet called Healey with extensive gardens, you'll see that you are surrounded by countryside at this property, yet still within easy driving distance of bustling towns. The nearest town of Masham (3 miles) boasts Georgian buildings around a cobbled square, site of the famous Sheep Fair in September. Take a tour around the well-known Black Sheep and Theakston's breweries. Attractive nearby towns include Leyburn, Middleham, Pateley Bridge, Richmond and Ripon.
Inside, traditional country-cottage style decor is mixed with contemporary furnishings to create the perfect blend of old and new. Step through the door into the spacious and bright kitchen which is brand new for Spring 2019, with exposed wood beams and pretty tiles on the wall, plus a family-sized dining table to enjoy your meals around. Pop next door into the living room and sink into the sofa to watch TV or snuggle up in the chair with a good book. Down a few stairs, you will find the master bedroom with sumptuous linen curtains and the twin room that features white cast iron beds. In between the bedrooms, the bathroom has a shower over the bath and a WC. A third en-suite zip and link bedroom, The Dovecote is located a few yards across the courtyard and is available at an extra cost. Early next year (2020) The Dovecote will be connected to the rest of the property via a spacious new living room.
At the front of the property, there is a fully enclosed courtyard which is loved by dogs and perfect for enjoying an al fresco drink in the evenings or sizzling up a BBQ. Venture through the gate to the wonderful extensive gardens, where there is a mill pond and a delightful lawn area for you to enjoy a picnic.
