Description

Rural barn conversion sleeping four guests, situated on the edge of Coniston Water, on the lower slopes of the Old Man of Coniston, and within walking distance of Coniston village centre.

This property is located on the owner’s small far, up a steep narrow hill in the picturesque Lake District National Park. It enjoys a fantastic location close to two of the area’s best-loved features: Coniston Water and The Old Man of Coniston, providing plenty of opportunity to enjoy scenic walks, challenging hikes, and a range of watersports, for which equipment can be hired from the nearby Coniston Boating Centre. For a more leisurely perspective of the lake, the beautifully restored steam yacht gondolas which depart from the town jetty are a fantastic way to spend a relaxing day on the water. Other attractions in or near to the village include The Ruskin Museum, the Go-Ape high ropes centre in Grizedale Forest, and Wray Castle.

This handsome stone barn is situated alongside several other properties on the owner’s farm and offers comfortable accommodation for four guests. On entering the cottage, guests will find a hallway, off from which there are two flights of stairs, one going up to the living area and the other going down to the bedrooms. Taking the stairs to the first floor, guests will come to the open-plan living space comprising a lounge/kitchen. The lounge area has a selection of seating enabling guests to sit back and enjoy the warmth of the flame-effect gas fire and perhaps watch a film on the TV/DVD. The kitchen area is located just behind the lounge and is equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, and dishwasher, whilst there are shared on-site laundry facilities for those who need them. The separate dining room, meanwhile, is a great place to enjoying leisurely breakfasts and family dinners. On the way back to the stairs, there is a cloakroom with WC. The bedrooms and bathroom with shower over bath and WC, are located on the lower-ground floor. The first bedroom is a restful double room with a low-level, cottage-style window, whilst the second is a tastefully decorated twin room.

Outside, there is a small seating area with a bench to the front of the property, providing a pleasant place to sit and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere. Heading through the courtyard, past the resident chickens, and on towards the meadows, guests will come to the edge of the farm, from where they can enjoy miles of scenic walks. There is parking provided for two cars.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.
