Description

Perched on Llangattock Hillside with magnificent views across to the Sugar Loaf and Black Mountains National Park, this cosy retreat has been immaculately converted from an old stone barn into a beautiful holiday home in the hills.

The Llangattock Hillside offers acres of common land on your doorstep, as well as some of Europe's most interesting and challenging cave networks for the little more adventurous. Just perfect for walkers and cyclists with a host of walking and cycling trails throughout the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains. Also an International Dark Sky Reserve so why not discover the wonders of the celestial sky. And for lazy days away from the mountains why not explore the picturesque town of Crickhowell for the morning newspaper and local bakery. For a traditional family day trip there are many attractions to include: The Big Pit National Coal Museum, Blaenavon Iron Works and Abergavenny Castle and museum.

The building is perfectly situated, with a garden that is private and enjoys a vista encompassing over 200 square kilometres of the national park, over the beautiful Usk valley to the Black Mountains and beyond. The large glass doors and spiral staircase will again surprise you on entering a traditional barn, the open-plan lounge area with comfortable sofas finished thoughtfully with colourful cushions and throws providing the perfect background for a cosy night in with a good movie, with space for dining for a hearty supper after a day’s exploring the National Park. Taking a step or two down to a traditional kitchen that provides a great space for the cook amongst you.  Well-equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. There is a shower room just off the kitchen. Climb the spiral staircase to the first floor where you will find a twin room with en-suite bathroom. A further climb to the second floor where you will find an inviting king-size bedroom within the eaves enjoying stunning views from the skylights.

Step outside into the hillside, the gardens are open aspect with a generous stone patio from which you can enjoy the views, with heavy oak garden furniture and BBQ. When the sun goes down you can stretch the evening out around the fire pit, the only sounds being the crackle of the fire and the calling of lambs in the fields in the springtime. There is also a huge area of open access behind the barn which has opportunities for caving, cycling and horse riding, as well as much to interest the amateur naturalist.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.
