This secluded 17th-century stone cottage is the ideal rural retreat for larger or extended families looking for a peaceful break within striking distance of the Brecon Beacons.
Originally built for the family who worked the local copper mine, this pretty property is found down a private lane, among fields, with only birds and sheep to disturb you. However, despite it’s remote location, the village of Felinfach is only 1 mile down the lane, with a local pub and celebrated gastro-pub. Walks lead from the door into the surrounding countryside, but for something a little more challenging, Brecon is just 5 miles away, providing you with a gateway to miles of great walks and cycling through the Brecon Beacons. Alternatively, a gentler experience can be found in the literary town of Hay-on-Wye, 12 miles east, where you can explore the quaint streets of this historic ‘town of books’.
Stepping into this period property is like stepping back in time, with many of the original features still on show. Heavy wood beams and exposed stonework give a real sense of the building’s history, augmented by a large inglenook fireplace housing an open wood burner in the sitting room, and an old-fashioned range and bread oven that is still used as a fireplace in the kitchen. On cooler days the warmth from these fires creates a truly cosy atmosphere, inviting you to curl up on the sofas in front of your favourite movie or TV show.
