With wooden beach huts, a shingle beach and fish and chip shops, this Kent resort is a typical English beach town. The beach is to the west of the harbour and Clock Tower. The bathing water contains numerous groynes and is backed by a promenade. To the east is a pier and a harbour breakwater.
Herne Bay Central Beach is adjacent to the Kent Coastline Walk.
