Montrose Beach is characterised by a magnificent stretch of firm, clean sands that span three miles. The beach is backed by a substantial 9m high dune ridge, providing a natural barrier and an interesting landscape feature. Access to the beach is primarily from the southern end, which is closest to the town of Montrose.
At the southern end of the beach, visitors can find a car park, shops, and various facilities, making it a convenient destination for those travelling by car. A sea wall has been constructed at the town end of the beach to protect the car park and facilities above. Beyond this, the majority of the beach is bordered by a lengthy stretch of natural sand dunes.
The beach offers a short promenade with ample parking and features the Seafront Splash children’s play area, making it a family-friendly destination. Additional facilities include a family-run cafe, a shop, and an amusement centre, catering to a variety of interests and needs. The beach is popular with both surfers and golfers, drawn by its natural conditions and scenic backdrop.
