North Berwick West Beach boasts a long stretch of sand with picturesque views of the island of Craigleith and the Bass Rock. The beach is a favourite among families, offering a range of activities including sunbathing, bird watching, paddling, picnics, and dog walking.
Behind the beach, a putting green is open during the summer months, providing an additional recreational activity for visitors. The beach is also within walking distance of the Scottish Seabird Centre, a great place to learn about the local wildlife. Visitors can enjoy a range of activities, including walking and taking in the views of the Firth of Forth, North Berwick Harbour, and the surrounding islands.
The beach is conveniently located near the seaside town of North Berwick, with plenty of roadside parking available along Beach Road. Access to the beach is via a short path over the putting green. The nearby North Berwick town centre offers a range of shops, restaurants, pubs, and places to stay. A regular train service to and from Edinburgh operates from nearby North Berwick Station.
The Scottish Seabird Centre, located near the picturesque harbour at the eastern end of the beach, provides information about the local wildlife and offers boat trips to the seabird sanctuary on Bass Rock. The North Berwick Golf Club is also located to the west of the beach.
