Archirondel Beach is located on the northeast side of Jersey and features a breakwater, which was once part of a plan to build a wider harbour area. Although the harbour was never constructed, the breakwater remains and helps protect the beach from strong winds and waves, making it a suitable spot for families and younger visitors. The beach has a shingle upper section that leads to soft golden sands, ideal for making sandcastles or relaxing.
The beach is characterised by its distinctive Martello Tower, which still serves as a daymark to guide boats safely to the area. The tower is easily recognisable with its red and white colour scheme. In addition to its scenic setting, the beach offers a range of facilities, including a small cafe and opportunities for water sports. The calm seas, protected by the breakwater and the beach's eastern aspect, make it an ideal location for snorkelling and kayaking.
Swimming is possible at Archirondel Beach, but visitors should be aware that the beach shelves very steeply, especially at high tide. Caution is advised due to the slippery pebbles that can make wading challenging. While many locals swim here and use the rocks and breakwater to dive into the sea, this is only recommended for experienced swimmers, as some rocks can be concealed underwater.
The beach is surrounded by other sites of interest, including the ruins of gun emplacements used during the German Occupation of Jersey during the Second World War. Visitors can also enjoy stunning views across neighbouring St Catherine’s Bay.
Nearby, visitors can explore Bouley Bay, a charming fishing port with a small sandy beach and cafe.
