In March 1897 a howling gale drove the Norwegian barque SS Nornen onto the Berrow mud flats. The Berrow life boat rescued the crew of ten and their dog so no lives were lost. This is all that remains of the Nornen but as she has been here for over a hundred years it shows testament to her fortitude.
