The local Cartmel Priory and medieval village are worth a visit as is Grange over Sands an Edwardian seaside town with two miles of promenade and a wide variety of shops. Other activities to enjoy locally are The Lakeside & Haverthwaite Stream Railway for preserved steam railway trips to Lakeside on Windermere, Levens Hall and gardens, Beatrix Potter and Lakeland Motor Museum. Horse riding and hot air balloon trips are also available locally.
