Cramond Island at high tide. This island sits just a short distance offshore, linked by a causeway that is submerged at high tide (a number of tourists get stuck each year because they forget to check the tides and have to be rescued by the coastguard).
The island was fortified during both world wars to help protect the vital Rosyth Naval Dockyards further upriver, and the derelict remains of the gun and observation emplacements still dot the island.
