Doonfoot Beach is a sandy beach with some rocks, situated just to the south of Ayr. The beach offers views over the Firth of Clyde, out towards the Isle of Arran and beyond that to the Mull of Kintyre Peninsula. The terrain is mainly sandy, although there are some rocks, and the beach is backed by undeveloped grassy areas.
The beach is overlooked by picturesque castle ruins. However, visitors should be aware that jellyfish are sometimes washed up along this part of the coast, particularly during the warmer summer months, and care needs to be taken not to touch these. Dogs should also be kept away from them. The area around the beach is popular with walkers and golfers, and there are a number of holiday parks and caravan sites nearby.
The beach's rural location and undeveloped surroundings make it an attractive destination for those seeking a more peaceful and natural beach experience.
Doonfoot Beach is adjacent to the Ayrshire Coastal Path.
