Fleetwood Beach, also known as Marine Beach, is situated at the top end of the Fylde coastline, facing north into Morecambe Bay. The beach is primarily sandy with a small amount of shingle and has a gently sloping profile with a slight drop-off to the water at high tide. At low tide, vast expanses of sand are revealed, making it a popular spot for cockle pickers.
Fleetwood Beach is located in the coastal town of Fleetwood, in the northwestern corner of the Fylde coast in Lancashire. The beach extends around the area from Larkholme Grasslands, with the main seafront area situated by Marine Hall, near the mouth of the River Wyr.
The seafront area has recently been renovated and offers stunning views across to Morecambe Bay. The area is family-friendly, with plenty of attractions and seafront shops. The Marine Gardens Outdoor Playground and leisure centre with a splash pool provide entertainment for children, while the impressive 1930s Art Deco Domed seafront theatre, Marine Hall, hosts a wide range of theatre and performing arts events. Other attractions include a boating lake, where model boats can be watched in action, and the Fleetwood Golf Club, which can be accessed via the coastal path.
Visitors can also explore the Rossall Point Watch Tower, which offers spectacular views and interesting local information. The tower is definitely worth a visit for those walking the coastal path.
Historically, Fleetwood was a fishing port, and it still maintains its maritime connections as a terminal for ferries to Larne.
