Lowestoft has several beaches, each with its own characteristics. The beach north of Claremont Pier is a wide, gently sloping sandy beach backed by a promenade and Victorian gardens. This beach is enjoyed by both visitors and the local community, and is overlooked by seasonal and weekly-let beach chalets.
The beach north of Claremont is a fine sandy beach that offers zones for watersports. It provides easy access to East Point Pavilion, which houses the Lowestoft Tourist Information Centre.
Lowestoft South beach, also known as Victoria Beach, is an award-winning coastal spot and a favourite with holidaymakers. The beach lies just south of Claremont Pier and offers a fine sandy stretch that has received a Blue Flag award for its cleanliness and water quality. The beach is backed by a promenade lined with colourful beach huts, cafes, and kiosks selling snacks, ice creams, and drinks.
There are various activities and facilities available on Lowestoft's beaches, including children's play areas, designated areas for water sports such as diving, jet-skiing, swimming, and windsurfing. A seasonal lifeguard service is available from 31st May to 1st September. However, dogs are not allowed on South Beach between May and September.
Lowestoft Marine Parade Beach is adjacent to the Suffolk Coast Path.
