Great Yarmouth is a large, busy, and popular resort on the east coast of Norfolk. The town is known for its gorgeous soft sand, multitude of entertainments, and amusements to keep visitors busy. There are many cafes and restaurants lining the seafront, making it an ideal destination for families and tourists.
South Beach in Great Yarmouth is a generous stretch of sand located between Wellington Pier and the new outer harbour at the mouth of the River Yare. The beach is wide, sandy, and backed by a promenade, amusements, and gardens. On a sunny day, it is a pleasant spot with sand dunes behind and fine sand. When the sun isn't out, the surroundings can appear more industrial, particularly at the southern end. However, South Beach is never as crowded as Great Yarmouth's Central Beach, making it a good getaway spot.
The beach is part of a larger complex that includes Great Yarmouth's Pleasure Beach, which features a roller coaster and Scenic Railway. Despite being open for over a hundred years, the Pleasure Beach remains Great Yarmouth's most popular attraction, drawing in over one million visitors per year. The town also boasts amusement arcades, theatres, nightclubs, and two piers: Britannia Pier and Wellington Pier.
Great Yarmouth Central Beach, also known as 'The Golden Mile', is an award-winning, sandy beach that attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. The promenade runs alongside the sea front, offering a range of activities and entertainment for kids. The beach is dog-friendly, with restrictions in the summer months between Britannia Pier and Wellington Pier.
