Porth Trwyn Beach, located on the west coast of Anglesey, is a serene and undeveloped sandy bay that offers a peaceful retreat for those seeking to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life.
The quiet beach of Porth Trwyn, near Llanfaethlu, is situated a few miles north of Holyhead. The beach is characterised by a quiet sandy bay backed by dunes, with only a few cottages overlooking the dunes at the back of the beach. At high tide, the beach is reduced to a narrow band of pebbles; however, as the tide drops, a good-sized expanse of sand is exposed. The beach also features rocky areas, providing ample opportunities for rockpooling.
Facilities at Porth Trwyn Beach are limited, with no toilets or shops on site. Visitors can find these amenities in the village of Llanfaethlu, which is approximately a mile away.
In addition to Porth Trwyn Beach, the area is also home to Church Bay, also known as Porth Swtan. This west-facing beach is a sand and pebble beach with rocky outcrops, backed by cliffs. At low tide, the beach offers rockpools for children to explore, making it an ideal spot for families. The beach is also famous for the Lobster Pot Restaurant, which offers a special dining experience. The Anglesey Coastal Path also overlooks the beach from the clifftop, providing stunning views for walkers.
Porth Trwyn Beach is adjacent to the Anglesey Coast Path and the Wales Coast Path.
