Portobello East Beach is a beach resort situated in the Edinburgh suburbs, approximately 4 miles east of the city centre. The beach features a long, wide stretch of golden sand, backed by a promenade that runs along the beach front. This promenade offers a number of benches, providing a great spot to relax and take in the views over the Firth of Forth.
The beach is well-suited for watersports, including kayaking and sailing. Visitors can also enjoy a range of local amenities, including the Portobello Golf Club, cafes, and pubs. The beach occasionally hosts art installations, such as Cressida the Tidal Octopus, which can be seen at low tide at the end of the Bath Street groyne.
While some free parking is available in the roads close to the beach, spaces can fill up quickly in fine weather. Visitors are advised to plan ahead and arrive early to secure a parking spot.
