The sandy beach is two kilometres in length with a gentle slope. At low tide a large area of the beach is exposed and the water’s edge can be some distance away. The Gypsey Race, the main river running through Bridlington, feeds into the harbour before entering the sea to the north of the bathing beach (see blue dot on the bathing water map). The beach is backed by tourist establishments on the seafront and the town of Bridlington.
