Cayton Bay is a picturesque beach located on the Yorkshire coast, approximately three miles south of Scarborough.

Cayton Bay Beach is a long, rural sandy beach situated on the Yorkshire coast, stretching for one kilometre with a gentle slope. At low tide, rocky outcrops and large areas of the beach become exposed, and the water's edge can be some distance away. The beach is backed by a steep cliff and a number of caravan parks and farms on the cliff top.

The beach is popular with surfers and windsurfers, who favour the bay for its consistent waves. In fact, the Scarborough Surf School has been running surf lessons at Cayton since 1989, making it one of the longest established surf schools in the UK. The cliffs at Cayton Bay were formed in the Jurassic period, around 150 million years ago, and are a firm favourite of both bird watchers and fossil hunters.

The beach is also home to WWII fortifications, including pill boxes, which are of historical interest. One section of the beach, known as Johnny Finton's Harbour, is located towards the northern end of the beach and features some of these fortifications.

It is worth noting that while the beach has been used as a naturist spot, Scarborough Council have erected signs stating that naturism is prohibited and offenders may be prosecuted.
