Superbly located on the dramatic Northumberland coast, this converted farm cottage offers comfortable beach-side accommodation, a sense of tranquillity and a wealth of outdoor activities.
This spacious holiday cottage sleeping up to eight people forms part of a farm conversion in the charming restful hamlet of Low Newton. Stroll a few paces from the property, through some dunes, and you arrive at a stunning stretch of silver sand. Much of the area is owned by the National Trust, including the scenic coastal trail south to Cranston via Dunstanburgh Castle, which can be walked in around two hours. Low Newton itself features whitewashed old fisherman’s cottages and the famous Ship Inn, which features its own micro-brewery and serves delicious fare including fresh lobster from Newton Bay. Windsurf from the beach, play golf at a local course or drive to Alnwick to marvel at its ‘Harry Potter’ castle.
Accommodation in the three-bedroom cottage is all on one level and is accessed via the back door, which leads into a large kitchen with everything you need for your break, including a dining table seating up to six, microwave, Nespresso Coffee Machine and dishwasher. A washing machine and tumble dryer can be found in the cupboard in the hallway. Both the lounge and dining area look out on to the picturesque dunes; the former features two comfortable sofas, TV and a selection of games, while the latter provides a quieter space in which to unwind at a table that seats up to eight. A door from the dining room leads to a large porch at the front of the cottage, perfect for drying rain-soaked clothes (this is Northumberland, so it’s likely!) and wetsuits. You will love the beach vistas from the two tastefully decorated double bedrooms, while the third compact bedroom incorporates two sets of standard-size bunk beds. A bathroom with bath and WC is complemented by a separate shower room with WC.
Outside, There is a grassy area to the front of the cottage which is part of the National Trust. You can take out table and chairs from the porch to enjoy a moment of relaxation, a morning coffee, or simply enjoying a sundowner while savouring the natural beauty before you. The one allocated parking space provides room for one large or two small vehicles.
Note: From January 2021 the 2 sets of bunk beds will be changed for 2 single beds. Until that time we can accommodate up to 8 guests.
Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.
