Seahouses South Beach is characterised by its wide expanse of golden sand, flanked by rocky outcrops at both ends. The beach is crossed by a fresh-water burn and features an abundance of rock pools, making it an ideal spot for rockpooling enthusiasts. At low water, rocks – some of which are fossiliferous – are exposed at the north end and elsewhere along the beach.
The beach is backed by sand dunes, which are part of a local nature reserve and have public access. The north end of the beach is bordered by a golf course, with public rights of way. Visitors to the area can enjoy a range of activities, including rockpooling, walking, and wildlife watching. Seahouses village, located nearby, offers boat trips to the Farne Islands and Holy Island, providing opportunities to spot puffins, grey seals, and dolphins.
Seahouses village is a charming destination that serves as the 'gateway to the Farne Islands'. The village offers a range of attractions, including long, sweeping beaches, and various nearby places of interest. Visitors can enjoy a selection of pubs, offering good food and a welcoming atmosphere, as well as excellent seafood and traditional fish & chips.
