Warkworth Beach is a long, gently sloping sandy beach, stretching for one kilometre. The beach is located between Birling Carrs and Amble Breakwater, less than a mile away from the historic village of Warkworth. It boasts a vast expanse of pristine, golden sand, providing ample space for sunbathing, playing beach games, or taking a long walk.
The beach offers good water quality and is home to Northside Surf School, which provides surfing lessons for all levels of ability throughout the year. Visitors can enjoy fine views from the beach, looking northwards towards Alnmouth or across the waters towards Coquet Island, now an RSPB reserve. The beach is dog friendly all year round, making it a great spot for long walks with pets.
The beach can be accessed by a 20-minute walk from Warkworth village or by parking in the car park near Warkworth Golf Club, from which the beach is a shorter walk. The village of Warkworth has many interesting shops and galleries to explore, as well as the spectacular Warkworth Castle, now owned by English Heritage. Visitors can also take a boat trip to Warkworth Hermitage, a 14th-century castle carved into the rocks.
Warkworth Beach is on the North Northumberland Heritage Coast.
