Crantock Beach is situated at the mouth of the Gannel Estuary, surrounded by east and west Pentire Headlands. The beach is approximately 940 metres wide and is backed by high dunes at the north-east end and steep cliffs at the south-west end. The River Gannel flows along the length of the beach and enters the sea at the northern edge.
The beach boasts a large expanse of golden sand, mostly swept by the tide, and offers a range of activities including snorkelling, surfing, and wind-surfing, with equipment hire available. The beach is patrolled by lifeguards during the holidays from May to September, making it a safe destination for swimmers. Visitors can also enjoy rock pools and caves at the mouth of the River Gannel.
There is parking available at C-Bay Cafe, Bar and Bistro, which offers food and refreshments on its terrace with views of the beach. The beach is dog-friendly all year round, making it a popular destination for dog walkers. Nearby, there are various holiday accommodation options, including the Parkdean – Crantock Beach Holiday Park and self-catering options, ideal for families.
Crantock Beach is adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
