Holywell Bay is a sandy beach, approximately 1.2 kilometres wide, situated within a bay and backed by cliffs and an extensive sand dune system. The beach is a large expanse of sand, providing ample space for visitors to enjoy. A stream flows across the southern end of the beach, adding to its natural charm.
The beach is located a mile west of Newquay, yet retains an unspoilt rural backdrop. There is plenty of parking available, as well as amenities in the nearby village. Despite its rural location, Holywell Bay can get quite busy during the summer months, although it is generally less crowded than the main Newquay beaches.
Holywell Bay is a favourite among families and surfers alike, with its huge sandy beach and sand dunes providing plenty of space to play. Visitors can explore a cave at the north end of the beach at low tide. The RNLI Lifeguards are on duty at Holywell Bay beach from May until the end of September, providing a safe environment for beachgoers. Golfers can enjoy a round with ocean views at the Holywell Bay Golf Club, which features two scenic 18-hole courses. Additionally, there are surf schools offering lessons to all age groups.
Visitors to Holywell Bay may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of dolphins swimming in the bay. The beach is also dog-friendly, allowing dogs to be on the beach all year round.
Holywell Bay is adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
