Porth Beach is a north-west facing beach, characterised by its narrow width and shallow incline. The beach is exposed to Atlantic swells, making it a popular spot for those who enjoy the power of the ocean. Despite its rural location, the beach has easy access, which makes it an ideal destination for families and individuals with walking difficulties.
Located just a 5-minute drive from the centre of Newquay, Porth Beach is a sandy beach approximately 230 metres wide, surrounded by cliffs with a stream flowing across the beach to the sea. The beach is a haven for families, with a huge, wide, golden sandy area that is safe for children to play and build sandcastles. The beach is also safe for swimming, with RNLI lifeguards on duty during the summer months.
The beach is part of the South West Coast Path, and walkers can follow it to Porth Island, which can be reached via a footbridge to the blow hole. There are plenty of accommodation options nearby, including hotels, holiday parks, and self-catering apartments. The Glendorgal Hotel offers beach-themed rooms with panoramic coastal views, while the Porth Beach house and Porth Veor Villas and Apartments provide stylish and modern accommodation options.
The beach is dog-friendly between 1 October and 30 April, although there are restrictions in place during the summer months.
Newquay Porth Beach is adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
