Mawgan Porth Beach is a rural, west-facing, long, flat sandy beach, approximately 720 metres wide, exposed to Atlantic swells. The beach is backed by sand dunes and cliffs, with a river, the River Menalhyl, flowing across the beach to the sea. Cliffs to the north and south of the beach expose a number of caves and coves at low tide.
The beach is situated four miles from Newquay and is well-served by local village amenities. Its proximity to the village of St Mawgan, with its 13th-century church, and the South West Coast Path, make it an ideal location for those interested in exploring the local history and scenery.
Mawgan Porth Beach is a popular surfing location, making it an award-winning UK beach holiday destination on the North Cornwall coast. The beach's consistent waves make it an ideal spot for learning to surf, while the surrounding cliffs and coastline offer breathtaking views and opportunities for walking and exploring.
The beach is sheltered by high cliffs at both ends, providing a sense of seclusion and protection from the elements. At low tide, a number of caves and coves are exposed, adding to the beach's natural beauty. Visitors can also walk along the coast path to Bredruthen Steps, taking in the stunning cliff-top views.
Mawgan Porth Beach is adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
