Clarach North Beach is a sand and shingle beach located beside a popular holiday village, backed by cliffs. The beach is part of Clarach Bay, which lies approximately one mile north of Aberystwyth. The bay is a sheltered cove flanked by steep cliffs, providing a natural and picturesque environment.
The northern end of the beach, furthest from Aberystwyth, offers a mix of sand and shingle, accompanied by tall cliffs, sea caves, rockpools, and fossils. The beach is a popular spot for bathers, surfers, windsurfers, and canoeists. Facilities in the area include parking, a small shop, and toilets. During peak summer months, the beach is lifeguarded.
The area is rich in birdlife, and occasionally, seals, porpoises, and dolphins can be spotted off the coast. Visitors are advised to bring binoculars to make the most of the wildlife spotting opportunities. The beach and surrounding area offer plenty of opportunities for coastal walks, including a cliff-top nature trail that connects Clarach Bay to Aberystwyth, providing panoramic views across Cardigan Bay.
Clarach North Beach is adjacent to the Ceredigion Coast Path and the Wales Coast Path.
