Clarach South Beach is located approximately one mile north of Aberystwyth, within Cardigan Bay. The beach is a westerly facing, sand and shingle beach, measuring around 500 metres wide, and is sheltered by steep shale cliffs on either side. The beach is part of a popular holiday village and is used by bathers, watersport enthusiasts, and walkers.
The beach offers lovely views of the bay, and there is a possibility of spotting seals, porpoises, or dolphins out in the surf. Visitors can enjoy coastal walks, including a nature trail connecting Clarach Bay and Aberystwyth, which provides panoramic views across Cardigan Bay. A scenic cliff-top walk over Constitution Hill offers stunning views over Ceredigion Bay, while a longer inland footpath via Llangorwen passes through a nature reserve.
The beach has a car park, toilets, and a small shop for refreshments. During the peak summer months, the beach is lifeguarded. Nearby Aberystwyth has a range of attractions, including the ruins of a 13th-century castle, shops, and places to eat and drink.
Clarach South Beach is adjacent to the Ceredigion Coast Path and the Wales Coast Path.
