Gorran Haven Vault Beach is located on the eastern side of Dodman Point and is characterised by a sweep of sand and shingle below steep bracken and heather covered cliffs. The beach is approximately 730 metres wide and is sheltered, making it a good safe beach for children with gently shelving sand. The nearby cliffs rise to an impressive 110 metres.
The beach is framed by rugged cliffs and stretches between Cadythew Rocks and Dodman Point, showcasing Cornwall's raw coastal beauty. As the tide goes out, the shingle shore transforms, revealing stretches of golden sand. The South West Coast Path backs the length of the beach and offers breathtaking cliff-top walks with panoramic views. Visitors can also rent a kayak or paddleboard and glide across the crystal-clear waters of the English Channel.
Access to the beach is not particularly obvious, and visitors can either walk around the coastpath from Gorran, which is hard work, or take the road to Lamedra. There is a car park close by on Lamledra Hill, and visitors can walk to the beach from there. It is worth noting that there is no lifeguard service at Vault Beach, but the beach is generally quite safe with a gently shelving sand and sheltered aspect.
The beach is a popular spot for naturists, particularly at the more secluded southern end. Visitors can bring their dogs at any time of year, and there is loads of space for them to run around. The beach is also suitable for children and offers a peaceful setting for a day by the sea.
Gorran Haven Vault Beach is on The Roseland Heritage Coast, and adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
