Man O' War Beach is located in a small cove adjacent to the more famous Durdle Door. The beach is sheltered by the Man O' War and Door headlands, providing shallow water and safe bathing conditions. A partially submerged offshore reef offers protection from swells, making it an ideal spot for swimming, snorkelling, and diving.
The beach is suitable for various activities, including fishing, swimming, snorkelling, and diving. The bay is owned by the Welds family, who manage the Lulworth Estate, and is open to the public. The beach is dog-friendly all year round, making it a great spot for dog owners.
The beach is a narrow strand of mixed shingle, gravel, and sand. The eastern end, known as Durdle Door Cove, is protected by the iconic Durdle Door Arch, while the rest of the beach is partially sheltered by the submerged offshore reef.
Man of War Beach is on the Purbeck Heritage Coast and the Jurassic Coast, and adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
