Weymouth Greenhill Beach is a sandy beach that stretches from the Pier Bandstand to the rock Groyne at Lodmoor. The beach is generally quieter than other beaches in the area, as it is located further from the town centre. The beach is backed by a promenade, which forms a section of the South West Coast Path.
The promenade features lovely beach huts, making it a great place to take a stroll and enjoy the sea air. During the summer months, from July to September, two swimming rafts are usually anchored off the beach. A lifeguard is also present during peak times, although swimmers should be aware that the water shelves quite suddenly in some areas.
Greenhill Gardens, a park area located immediately behind the beach, is a major attraction. The gardens feature beautifully kept colourful borders, four tennis courts, a putting green, toilets, and a café. This makes it an ideal spot for a picnic or a relaxing break.
Weymouth is a traditional seaside resort with a variety of quirky shops, places to eat, and amusements, including a Sealife Centre. The town's many attractions make it a great destination for a family day out, especially during the summer months.
Some restrictions apply to Greenhill Beach from 1st May to 30th September. Visitors can enjoy refreshments at one of the local cafes, such as Jurassic Rock Cafe or Top Cat Cafe, which welcomes dogs and offers dog-friendly treats.
Weymouth Greenhill Beach is adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
