Rockley Sands is a small sand and mud beach, approximately 150 metres long and 300 metres wide, situated at the mouth of the Rock Lea River. The beach is nestled next to Rockley Park, a large caravan park, and Rockley Boat Park, near the town of Hamworthy. It offers stunning views over Poole Harbour and the Purbecks.
The beach has a range of facilities, including parking for around 30 cars, a beach shop, café, and toilets. It is a dog-friendly beach, with an exercise area for dogs. However, swimming is not recommended due to strong currents, and there is no lifeguard on duty. At low tide, swimming is not possible, and it is forbidden from the slipway at all times.
Visitors can take a short walk from the beach to Ham Common, a secluded nature reserve with a peaceful lake, ideal for a relaxing stroll. The nearby Studland Peninsula, owned by the National Trust, offers four beautiful beaches, including Shell Bay, which is a popular spot for sailing, boating, and beach activities.
Shell Bay, located on the Isle of Purbeck, offers lovely sandy beaches with views over Sandbanks and Poole Harbour. The beach is a great spot for a game of beach volleyball, and visitors can enjoy a meal at the Shell Bay Seafood Restaurant & Bistro. The Shell Bay Sailing centre offers RYA recognised training and boat hire.
Poole Harbour Rockley Sands is on the Purbeck Heritage Coast.
