The safe sheltered bay of Swanage South Beach is flanked by magnificent chalk headlands on either side. The gently sloping sands form a good 2km family beach with a promenade, providing all the facilities of a small seaside resort. The beach is near the pier and has many restaurants nearby.
This little sand and shingle beach lies just west of the town, on the way to the pier. Whilst not quite of the same standard as Swanage main beach’s golden sands, the beach here is a lovely spot to relax and watch life go by. With clear, clean water and in its sheltered location, the beach here is a great place for a spot of snorkelling. It is also popular with anglers, with the pier being well known for bass.
Swanage Central Beach, on the Dorset coast, is an award-winning sandy beach perfect for swimming and a day out with the family. This popular tourist destination has lots on offer along the promenade, and diving, sailing, and windsurfing are popular here. To the southern end of the beach is the beautiful Victorian Pier, built in 1896 to accommodate the paddle steamers. The area by the pier is also known for being one of the best scuba diving areas on the south coast. Dive clubs and schools, as well as individuals, regularly dive to see the marine wildlife and wrecks in the area. You will also see people fishing, as it is a popular place for anglers too.
Swanage South Beach is adjacent to the Bournemouth Coast Path and the South West Coast Path.
