Bendricks Beach and Jackson's Bay are two lesser-known beaches near Barry in South Wales, offering unique experiences for those looking to explore beyond the main tourist spots.

Bendricks Beach is one of the lesser-known beaches close to Barry resort in South Wales. At high tide, it is not much more than a rocky outcrop, but when the tide is out, a small section of sand and shingle is exposed. The beach's main claim to fame lies in the fossilised dinosaur footprints to be found in the rocks here. There are no signs indicating where the prints can be found. Some of the better prints found here have been excavated and can be seen in Cardiff Museum. There is no designated beach parking, but access can be gained by parking by the recycling plant and climbing over the rocks. Care should be taken as the rocks can be very slippery.

Jackson's Bay is a charming sandy cove located on Barry Island on the Glamorgan coast in Wales. Located next to Barry Dock with views of the lighthouse at the end of the harbour wall, it is ideal for those looking for a quieter alternative to Barry main beach. To get on to the beach, take the path from Redbrink Crescent, which leads down to the seafront. Jackson's Bay is a lovely spot to relax, enjoy nature, and spend quality time with family or friends. Whether you're swimming, kayaking, or simply soaking up the sun, it's a delightful destination on Barry Island! The Clements Colley Walk passes right along this beach, a scenic coastal path that runs around the headland. Jackson's Bay is dog-friendly all year round, allowing you to enjoy the beach with your furry friends without any restrictions.
