Porthselau Beach is a small, sandy beach located on the south side of Whitesands Bay, offering stunning views of St David's Head and a unique coastal experience.
Porthselau Beach is characterised by its small, straight sandy shoreline dotted with rocky outcrops. The beach faces north-west, providing excellent views of St David's Head. On occasion, at very low tide, it is possible to walk across to the neighbouring Whitesands beach.
The beach is situated on the south side of greater Whitesands Bay and can be accessed from the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, which offers a scenic stretch of coastline. Alternatively, visitors can walk to the beach via a footpath from the nearby peninsula near Rhosson Farm. Access is also available from the campsite at Pencarnan Farm.
The beach is ideal for those looking for a quieter alternative to the nearby Whitesands beach. At low tide, rocky outcrops are exposed, making it a great spot for rockpooling. The beach is also suitable for swimming and kayaking. Visitors can relax on the sand or explore the surrounding area.
The nearby Treleddyn house, which dates back to the 17th century, is said to be connected to the beach via a tunnel, which was allegedly used for smuggling illicit alcohol.
The beach is dog-friendly all year round. Visitors can enjoy the beach without worrying about restrictions on their pets.
Porthselau Beach is adjacent to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and the Wales Coast Path.
