Stokes Bay, located in Gosport on the Hampshire coast, is a popular seaside destination offering a shingle beach with a gently shelving profile, making it an ideal spot for families and those looking to enjoy various recreational activities.

Stokes Bay is a south-west facing shingle beach situated in Gosport, Hampshire, on the south coast of England. The beach faces across the Solent, offering great views of the Isle of Wight, and is sheltered from the wind by the island. The beach itself is predominantly shingle, with some sand exposed at low tide. A promenade runs along the western side of the beach, with a large grassed area behind, suitable for most recreational activities, including a designated area for barbecues. The village of Alverstoke is located just beyond the grassed area.

The beach is a family-friendly location, with various facilities and activities available. The Gosport Splash Park is situated on the seafront, making it an ideal spot for young children. A restaurant and the local sailing club are also nearby. Visitors can swim at Stokes Bay beach, and watersports are popular here too. The western end of the beach is home to the Diving Museum and the No2 Battery, while the eastern end features the Stokes Bay Angling Club and a public slipway for boats. A car park and toilets are also available.

The beach is dotted with points of interest, including the Grade II gun battery, Fort Gilkicker, located at the eastern end of the beach. Although derelict and fenced off, visitors can walk around the fort, which has an interesting history and potential for development. The beach is dog-friendly, with restrictions in place between 1st May and 30th September from the main pebble beach to the lifeboat station. However, dog walkers can still access the beach at the east end of the bay towards Gilkicker.
