Beachlands Central Beach stretches for eight kilometres along Hayling Island, from Eastoke Point at the entrance to Chichester Harbour to Sinah Common at the entrance to Langstone harbour. The beach is characterised by pebbles at high tide, with wide stretches of sand exposed at low tide. The western end of the beach remains undeveloped, providing a natural and serene environment.
The beach offers a variety of facilities, including amusement arcades, a funfair, a skate park, a children's play area, and a volleyball court. Visitors can enjoy a range of activities such as fishing, sailing, swimming, water skiing, and windsurfing. The beach is also surrounded by heathland and sandy grassy areas, with well-marked paths suitable for walking and strolling.
The seafront area is relatively accessible for those with pushchairs and wheelchairs, with boardwalks over the shingle that are wide enough for wheelchairs. Facilities include toilets, beach huts, a tourist information office, and a variety of bars, cafes, kiosks, and restaurants. There is also ample car parking space, and the beach can be easily reached by bus. Throughout the year, open-air markets and car boot sales take place.
Beachlands Central Beach is dog-friendly, although there are restrictions during the summer months. The beach has been awarded Blue Flag Status, recognising its high standards of water quality, safety, and environmental management.
