Worthing West Parade Beach is a gently sloping shingle beach that reveals sand at low water, making it an ideal spot for beachgoers. The beach is backed by an urban area with the town centre close by, providing easy access to shops, restaurants, and other amenities. A promenade runs along the top of the beach, featuring a pier and lido to the east.
The beach is predominantly a groyned, shingle beach, but with gently shelving sand exposed at low water. This makes it an excellent spot for families with children, who can enjoy exploring the rock pools and playing on the sand at low tide. Popular activities on the beach include fishing, windsurfing, and swimming, although there is no lifeguard service. There is zoning for water sports, and visitors can also enjoy the pier, which was originally built in 1862 and now features a café and the Grade II Listed Pavilion Theatre.
Worthing is a vibrant seaside town with a rich history, dating back at least 6,000 years. The town is home to a variety of shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues, including the Dome cinema, one of the oldest working cinemas in the country. The Worthing Festival is held annually in July, featuring a fairground along the town's promenade. Visitors can also explore the local area, which is home to Britain's greatest concentration of Stone Age flint mines.
There are several options for parking, including pay-for parking along Marine Parade, a large multi-storey car park adjacent to the beach, and further parking around the town. Worthing and West Worthing train stations are both about one mile from the beach, and there are buses directly to the beach. The seafront also features a five-mile award-winning promenade with palm trees, making it a pleasant place to take a stroll.
