Wemyss Bay is a small town situated on the shores of the Firth of Clyde, with a ferry service operating across to the Isle of Bute. The town has a small rocky beach, with parts of the town stretching along the waterfront.
Wemyss Bay beach is a rock and shingle beach, offering stunning views south over the bay and across the upper Firth of Clyde to the surrounding countryside. The beach is an excellent spot for watching ferries approaching and leaving the ferry terminal to Rothesay on the Isle of Bute. Boating is also a popular activity in the area.
Limited parking is available around the town, and the beach itself is located on a private road, accessible via a slipway. Facilities such as shops and cafes can be found a short distance south of the beach in the town centre, near the ferry terminal. A large holiday park, Wemyss Bay holiday park, is situated just to the south of the beach.
The town's railway station is renowned for being one of the most beautiful in Scotland, offering frequent services to and from Glasgow.
